Blue and white made toward the clos of the Ming Dynasty and during the initial years of Qing Dynasty are termed as as “transitional” wares. During this unsettled transitional period, production at official kilns in Ching te Chen came to a virtual standstill an many of their artisans must have found work at the private commercial kilns nearby, helping to improve their quality.
